Discovery

βk-2C-B has shown up in the literature for the first time in 2004 with a paper discussing β-Oxygenated analogues of 1-(4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-aminopropane.

History

Since the first mention of this type of 2c-B analogue in the paper outlined above, there has been a growth in availability of this research chemical online since 2014. Much of the discussion related to this compound has revolved around its mention within the legality of phenethylamine analogues. There is very little data to describe its potential usage in science other than as a part of novel compound catalogues or legality.

Chemical Structural Data

βk-2C-B is structurally related to 2C-B and BOB. This novel compound has a series of substituted 2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamines at the 4 position on the aromatic ring. 2-CB is a known designer drug, with βk-2C-B essentially being a β-Ketone analogue.

Structure-Activity & Chemical Similarity Predictions

Based on the known activity of the parent compound 2-CB, βk-2C-B is thought to have a similar affinity for the serotonin receptor subgroup, but with a potentially longer efficacy.

The 5-HT2c subgroup of serotonin receptor seems to have the most affinity after administration of 2-CB in vitro.

βk-2C-B is thought of as having an “unpredictable efficacy” as a psychedelic and empathogenic compound, with anecdotal suggestions and predictions pointing to a roughly double duration of action, when compared to 2-CB alone.
